Classic Cask Scotches – In working with a great new supplier, we picked up four excellent independent bottlings from Classic Cask.

The youngest is the Mortlach 11yr. Mortlach is a favorite for us here at TPS.

Then we have a Glen Kieth 20yr, Glen Grant 21yr, and Bunnahabhain 22yr. With the pricing of Single Malts continually going up, independent bottlers like Classic Cask are an excellent way to stretch your dollars up to higher aged single malts. These will impress novices and connoisseurs alike.

Douglas Laing Blended Scotches – With single malts rising rapidly in price, as mentioned above, the category of blended malts is growing. Compass Box lead the charge, and these selections from Laing are following suit. These selections may be playful in their names and the art on the canisters they come in, but the whiskey inside is serious. All are vatted, uncut, natural color, and un-chill filtered. Timorous Beastie is a Highland blend featuring Glen Garioch, Dalmore, and Glen Goyne amongst others. Scallywag is a nod to Speyside incorporating Mortlach, Macallan, Glenrothes, and others. Rock Oyster is comprised of all island malts from Jura, Islay, Arran, and Orkney. Big Peat, as expected, is exclusively Islay and features some Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore, and even Port Ellen! If you like a respective distillery within one of the blends, or any of the featured areas, on the whole, you’ll surely love the selection.
